There is a new book out by Arianna Huffington called Thrive that I cannot wait to read. Here’s why:
“We have, if we’re lucky, about thirty thousands days to play the game of life. How we play it will be determined by what we value. If we worship money, we’ll never feel truly abundant. If we worship power, recognition and fame, we’ll never feel we have enough. And if we live our lives madly rushing around, trying to find and save time, we’ll always find ourselves living in a time famine, frazzled and stressed.
So find your place to stand – your place of wisdom and peace and strength. Remake the world in your own image, according to your own definition of success, so that all of us – women and men – can thrive and live our lives with more grace, more joy, more compassion, more gratitude, and yes, more love.” (excerpt from Thrive)
Isn’t that what we try to do when we seek to find time for ourselves? And her simple, but not easy, statement that follows is to simply find your place to stand. It reminds of the verse from Frozen where Elsa sings “here I stand and here I stay.” (My granddaughter only listens to this song a million times a day).
Where do you stand? Where is the place of your wisdom and peace and strength? It is different for all of us. The key is not to do it the same way that others do it, but to do it in a way that enhances your ability to thrive, to live fully, to embrace the thirty thousand days that are yours to live in a way that supports what you value most.
I’m going out to buy this book…I’ll let you know more after I read it.
